Team Zoo 2006 - Philadelphia Zoo Softball

Game 6 @ Art Museum - 5/30/06

Win | 14-13 (2-4)

Heck of a game this week - started off kinda slow and tight, no team had more than a 2 run lead until the 6th, when we turned a 1-run deficit into a 4-run lead with a 5-run inning. We then shut them down 1-2-3 in the bottom of the 6th, added 3 more in the top of the 7th (all with 2 outs) and had a commanding 7-run lead (14-7) going into the last half of the last inning. Then it was X-Commerce all over again and we had major trouble getting outs and stopping them from scoring. They racked up 6 runs, had two runners on and their leadoff batter up with 2 outs. Todd got him to pop it up and finally the game was over. We also got our 2nd double play of the season when I was able to double-up a baserunner at 2nd who was almost to 3rd on a relatively undifficult pop fly, with some help from Amy at 2nd, who also made a couple of nice catches on tough line drives.

Todd hit another home run (2nd game in a row). Ryan made a triumphant return to CCSL play in his first game in almost 10 months and went 4-for-4 and scored 3 runs. Greg led off and went 4-for-5, had 2 singles and 2 triples, with 6 RBI and 4 runs scored, setting team season-highs for on-base (5), triples, RBI, and tying team season-highs for hits, at-bats and runs scored. He had a 2-run triple with 2 outs in the 7th after a bases-loaded triple in the 6th (an at-bat that he fouled off about 5 or 6 pitches after getting 2 strikes before he nailed the 3B). I was credited with the game-winning RBI in the 7th, an RBI double that scored Greg with our 14th, final and winning run. And after our worst statistical performance last week, we set a season high batting .600 as a team, with a season high 6 extra-base hits and also tied a season high with 27 total hits. Well done.
