Game 3 @ X-Commerce - 5/2/06

Loss | 13-14 (1-2)

Wow. There are no words that can describe the shock that was the loss we were handed by X-Commerce this week. Well, there might be a few: We perhaps played the best 6 innings this team has ever played, 10 of 11 batters had at LEAST 2 hits each, we ran up 9 runs on 15 hits (20 batters to the plate!) in the first 2 innings and even left the bases loaded in the 1st. We had some really superb defensive plays in the field (Jen, Joe, Bridget, Todd, probably more I'm forgetting) and we even had some major luck when we had some royal baserunning errors on TWO separate plays in the same inning that only resulted in one out. We were up 13-6 after 6 against a team we've never beaten and only once lost by less than 7.

And then they thought the game was over and started shaking our hands... and then we had to go ahead and tell them "oh no! we have but one more!" But so what? They had to get 6 runs just to tie and they had only scored 1 run the previous 4 innings. Of course, they then ran off 7 runs (and we only recorded one out) and beat us like we didn't even know what happened. We just couldn't get an out and they were doing some really good hitting. It hurts.
