Game 2 - 4/24/06 @ Franklin Institute

Tough, tough game vs Franklin this week. It was a real struggle just to confirm that we were going to field a team. I wasn't even sure until about 3 pm on game day that it would happen, and I had to lure Ken out of semi-retirement. We actually ended up with 11 folks thanks to some no's that turned into yes's, so it was fine. Anyway... we started off strong with a great first couple of innings and had an 8-1 lead after 2. We got skunked in 3 of the last 5 innings and they had many, many long balls that got way past everybody and came back to take a 13-12 lead after 5. We rallied with 2 more in the 6th but they got 2 in the bottom to retake the lead and then held us in our last at bat. Non-roster player and savior Ken supplied 1/3 of the team offense, with a single, triple, homerun and RBI sac fly. We hit really well, 9 of 11 players had at least 2 hits, 6 different players had RBI. Pretty decent play in the field as well except for those monster shots we couldn't track down and a minor chaotic snafu in one inning. They're a good team, they turned 2 double plays on us (after discussion with the Commissioner, the double play in the 5th that I thought may have been an infield fly rule should have stood as is) and had a great play getting Waldron on a really close slide & tag at 3rd base. They just had a little more than us at the end, but they won't beat us twice. We even had 4 Chrises in the outfield all at once for a few innings.
