10 reasons why you should come to the last softball game of 2006

1. It would make me really, really happy.
2. Chances are it won't be 1000 degrees this time.
3. We fucking WON last week.
4. You know you want to beat the crap out of that Constitution team.
5. If you don't, and we lose, it's your fault that we tied for last place.
6. There might be beer!
7. But only if you bring it yourself.
8. After this, I won't be harassing you again until at least March.
9. Kristen said she'll go topless for the 5th inning.
10. Waldron promises he'll keep his shirt on for the whole game.

Yep, we beat PBJ last week, for the first time ever (after 11 straight losses), by a final score of 9-8 in extra innings (8). It was beyond awesome. Plenty of highlights. Such as Ken blessing us with his presence again. He came through on the mound, getting lots of infield grounders and lots of fly balls that were catchable by our 3 outfielders. He also came through at the plate, hitting the game-winning RBI in the top of the 8th with a single that scored Chris Oberlin with the eventual winning run, right after Chris Waldron scored Joe on a sac-fly to put us up by 1 (at the time). They scored a run in the bottom of the 8th but we held them off with the winning run at the plate when Waldron caught a weak liner at 3rd to end the game. It didn't start out so promising, as we only started with 8 players. But Joe came through like a mofo and showed up even after he wasn't initially going to (I begged), and only missed an inning. He was key, making a superb running/sliding catch in the field and scoring 3 runs at the plate. Law and myself also both made some sweet catches in the outfield to save some runs and everyone in the infield did a damn fine job of getting lead runners on force outs at second and third. Sal, Amy & Law each smacked over-their-heads doubles that scored a total of 5 runs (and all of those were with 2 outs; Sal's and Amy's were back-to-back). Everybody had at least one hit, even though we hit into three 1-2-3 innings. It was a most impressive effort, aided slightly by the fact that they also only played with 3 in the outfield. We were down 0-1 after 2, it was 3-3 after 4, we had a 7-4 lead after 5 and they tied it up at 7 to go into extra innings before we squeaked it out. By far our most impressive win in some time, and our first extra innings game since we had 2 in 2003 (also winning both of those).
