Team Zoo 2006 - Philadelphia Zoo Softball

Game 1 - 4/18/06 vs Academy of Natural Sciences

Win | 11-6

Softballaz,

Congratulations to us for opening up league play this year with a big, phat W. It's only gonna get tougher from here on in, but thanks to the Academy, we'll take the win. A pretty solid defensive effort on our part, with few errors - damn good for the first game. Good hustle, tons of effort and no dropped balls of any kind that I remember. And great games from all of our new Team Zoo'ers. A kick-ass double play from Elise and Jen in the 3rd inning. Anna had two strikeouts (including one to end the game). A big first inning, where we put 11 players to the plate and racked up 6 runs on 8 hits. Some timely fielding errors on the part of the opposing team gave us some breathing room late in the game. We gave up 3 runs in the first but settled down and shut them out in 4 of the last 5 innings. Final score - Zoo 11, Academy 6.

Game-winning RBI by Joe Stevenson in the 5th inning, a double that scored Chris Simrak with the eventual winning run.

And we look great in our new shirts.

Franklin just beat XComm (who's a *good* team - we've never beaten them) and last year we beat Franklin twice by one run each. Not to mention the year before that when we beat them 41-12. They don't like us much. Some of them are a bit obnoxious, too - especially their usual pitcher, who's kind of an assmunch. Bring your A-game.

If you're new to the team, I have had the pleasure of making a glorious team website for the past 6 seasons and it is now live for this year... feel free to apprise me of any & all errors you notice but I won't apologize for the poetic license I may take with my descriptions of your play on the field. If you like stats and outrageous details, you'll probably love it.
